Beaches in South Haven, Michigan

South Haven’s coastal charm includes seven public beaches, and each one differs from the other. Some are overflowing with tourists, while the others are able to maintain an equilibrium of quiet.

South Beach

Located just south of the pier and lighthouse, is South Haven’s  South Beach. Notably, each of the remaining South Haven beaches are situated  on the opposite site of the pier.  A big, bright, iconic lighthouse marks the South Beach as its own unique state park.

North Beach

In contrast, the North Beach‘s distinctive feature is its beach volleyball courts.  Both North and South Beaches support wheelchair access and are ADA compliant.

Packard Park

Another beach in South Haven, Packard Park,  offers additional advantages for beachgoers. These include grills, a deck overlooking Lake Michigan, and picnic tables. Lush green trees offer shade over a large grassy area.  It’s important to note that Packard Park charges a $10 fee per trip to the beach. (But if you’re lucky enough to find a spot on North Shore drive and can parallel park, you can avoid the fee.)

Woodman Beach

Another option is Woodman Beach, which is located at 97 North Shore Drive in South Haven, nestled between North Beach and Dyckman Beach. According the web page, there is a %7 parking fee – cash only.

Dyckman Beach

Open to the public, Dyckman Beach is yet another Lake Michigan access point. Visitors are welcome to carry in their own boats, as long as they don’t mind a 50 yard trek. An exciting feature here is the boardwalk, which directs Lake Michigan enthusiasts to 300 feet of sandy beach area.

Oak Street Beach

Oak Street Beach is another busy South Haven beach because it’s close to many hotels and lodging options on the north side of the pier.

Newcome Beach

Last but not least, Newcome Beach, a peaceful strip of sandy public beach enveloped by private property, is a great choice. Due to its tiny size and general reputation, it’s a fabulous option for beach-goers wishing to spend time engrossed in a book, meditating, or watching the sunrise. There are no special amenities or even restroom facilities at this tiny gem of a sugar sand strip. But because of this, it offers a unique, quiet experience.

2. Windmill Island Gardens

In the 1950s and 60s, a visionary group of City Fathers understood the significance of preserving this heritage while also creating a space for both community members and tourists to come together. Their efforts led to the acquisition of the DeZwaan Windmill. Interestingly, this is the last working windmill permitted to leave the Netherlands, and it now serves as the centerpiece of our park. From Hassle to Hands-Off: The Benefits of Hiring a Property Rental Management Company for Your Short Term Rental

The vacation rental industry is experiencing a boom. More and more travelers are opting for short-term rentals vs traditional hotels. Because of this, investing in a vacation rental property can reap significant returns, providing homeowners with extra income and even covering housing costs.

However, managing a successful vacation rental can be time-consuming and challenging. In this blog post, we discuss why partnering with a professional property management company like BVW Unsalted Vacations can save you time, effort, and even money. Partnering with our property management company also ensures high levels of guest satisfaction and full compliance with rental laws. In due course, you will begin the “BVW Difference” 0ustanding amount of work completed each day.

Overview: Short Term Rentals Are Surging in Popularity

Vacation rentals have exploded in popularity over the past decade. In fact, many travelers prefer vacation rentals vs hotels. According to recent research, the vacation rental industry is expected to reach a projected market volume of $21.11 billion by 2028.  Additionally, research predicts 64.10 million vacation rental users by 2028. As you can see, investing in a vacation rental property is a wise decision! For homeowners, listing a property as a vacation rental can provide extra income and help cover housing costs.

Renting out a second home, cabin, beach house or other property through vacation rental platforms offers homeowners some unique advantages. It provides income from a property you already own, but it gives you the flexibility to use it yourself part of the year. Vacation rentals also help homeowners afford and maintain high-end properties in popular destinations that might otherwise be financially out of reach.

As the vacation rental market continues to expand, more homeowners are taking advantage of this opportunity. But managing a successful vacation rental involves important factors. For example: pricing, marketing, managing bookings, maintaining renter relations, and coordinating emergency maintenance repairs – among other things. All of these tasks take considerable time and expertise.

What Are the Challenges of Self-Managing?

Managing a vacation rental property on your own can be extremely time-consuming. In fact, the average vacation rental manager spent over 15 hours per week on administrative tasks alone in 2023.  This is not including the time it takes for hands-on cleaning, scheduling, marketing, accepting reservations, accounting, and maintenance. Handling all bookings, communications, cleaning, and repairs yourself can quickly become a full-time job.

As a homeowner, you likely have a busy personal and professional life outside of your vacation property. Self-managing means sacrificing significant time that could be better spent with family, friends, or furthering your career.

Hiring a professional management company like BVW Unsalted Vacations allows you to hand off the day-to-day rental operations while still earning revenue from your investment property.

Why Choose to Pay a Property Management Company Fees?

With a trusted partner handling operations, homeowners can truly relax and enjoy their vacation property. Homeowners with vacation rental properties often consider self-managing to avoid management fees. However, partnering with a professional management company offers significant benefits that often outweigh the costs. In fact, a management team may prevent homeowners from losing money.

5 Indisputable Advantages Using a Property Management Company vs Self Managing

Benefits of Hiring a Property Manager for Your Short Term Rental Property

As difficult as it can be to say goodbye to summer, fall in our neck of the woods is a remarkable consolation. Many travelers are keen to highlight the apparent benefits, such as crisp weather and beautiful autumn foliage. Still, one aspect that may go overlooked amid scenic drives and near-perfect weather is an excellent collection of West Michigan apple orchards in the greater Grand Haven area. So, to help you build your itinerary with a few considerations, Unsalted Vacation Rentals will shed light on an immersive way to live like a local before winter’s arrival with three must-stop apple orchards.

Things to Do in the Grand Haven Area

Fresh lakeside air and the fragrant aroma of ripe apples create the perfect setting for bonding and creating lasting memories. Whether you’re a family hoping to pull one last vacation out of your hat before becoming embedded in the school year or a romantic couple hoping to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, West Michigan apple orchards have a lot to offer. Here are five options to help you navigate the region.

Crane Orchards U-Pick and Corn Maze

Located in Fennville, Crane Orchards is among Michigan’s finest, boasting over 20 varieties of apples and six generations of experience. In addition to several apple options, fruit lovers will be delighted to know they also have cherries and peaches onsite. The 20-acre corn maze and hayrides are a hit with the kiddos, and the property offers seemingly endless photo opportunities.

Overhiser Orchards

Residing on the outskirts of Grand Haven, Overhiser Orchards is one part fruit farm and one part recreational area. Since 1863, the Overhisers have provided the area with countless varieties of apples, plums, pears, peaches, and cherries. While picking fruit is the foundation of this Michigan apple orchard experience, they offer several supporting features like sunflower tours, animal watching, a corn maze, and a pumpkin patch.

Gavin Orchards

Just a 30-minute drive east of Grand Haven, Gavin Orchards, outside of Coopersville, offers fresh, sustainably grown apples, peaches, and cherries. Although Gavin Orchards isn’t a U-pick farm, they have some of the most widely distributed produce in the Midwest. The knowledgeable, friendly staff is happy to assist if you’re wondering which varietals to use in your recipes.
